  1. Find the noindex setting

    It usually comes from a setting, not from code you wrote. Check where you edit the page:

    Settings, then Reading. Untick “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”, then save. SEO plugins such as Yoast and Rank Math also have a per-page “noindex” or “Allow search engines to show this page” option. WordPress Reading settings
  2. Remove the tag if it is in your code

    It looks like the line below. Delete the whole line.

    <meta name="robots" content="noindex">

  3. Ask your developer about headers

    If the HTML has no noindex but the check still fails, your server sends an X-Robots-Tag: noindex header. Your developer or host can remove it.

  4. Check it worked

    Run the checker on the same page. It should say “Loads, not noindex”. Google can take a few days to recrawl the page after this.

Why this matters and our sources

That the page loads without an error, and does not carry a “noindex” instruction, either as a robots meta tag in the page or as an X-Robots-Tag header sent by the server.

Google’s own documentation says a page with noindex is dropped from Google Search. AI features such as AI Overviews use pages from that index, so a noindex page has nothing to show. That is why this check is labelled Strong.
