Name the question the page answers
Usually it is the main heading, such as “What does the product do?” or “How much does it cost?”.
Write the answer in one or two sentences
Aim for under 60 words. Lead with the answer itself, not background. For example: “The product checks whether AI search tools can reach and read your website, then shows what to fix first.”
Put it straight after the main heading
Keep the story, history and detail for the paragraphs below it.

Why this matters and our sources
The first real paragraph after the page’s main heading. We skip lines under 12 words, such as bylines. The check passes when that paragraph is under 60 words.
A study of 18,012 ChatGPT citations found 44% came from the first 30% of a page. It covers ChatGPT only and shows a pattern, not proof of cause, so this check is labelled Moderate. The 60-word limit is our own choice; the study measured position, not length.
